Linton Consultancy runs preparatory exam tutorial classes for Strata Control, Rock Mechanics and MMC. Our main objective is to thoroughly prepare candidates for the exams as per syllabi.

Strata Control

Strata Control is a discipline of Rock Engineering that is centered around support of underground excavations so as to assure safe mining conditions. Linton Consultancy runs preparatory exam tutorial classes for Strata Control Theory (Metalliferous). Our main objective is to thoroughly prepare candidates for the exam as per syllabus. Which includes the following:

  • Rock Engineering basic definitions.
  • Excavation stability
  • Regional & support pillars
  • Mining
  • Geology
  • Support of excavations
  • Testing and monitoring methods

    • In these tutorial sessions, past exam papers will also be practiced. Additionally, each candidate will be allocated a tutor so as to attend to them even outside the scheduled tutorial times.

    Not only do we offer theory tutorials; practical preparatory tutorials will also be run for candidates. These sessions will be run as per syllabus; which includes:

  • Mine plans
  • Stope stability
  • Tunnel stability
  • Practical geology
  • Monitoring

    • Rock mechanics (Paper 1, 2 & 3)

    Rock mechanics is the engineering science which describes how the rock mass will react and behave when excavated. As broad as Rock Mechanics may be, we offer tutorial sessions (Metalliferous) to thoroughly prepare you for these papers. With us around, you can never go wrong!

    Mine Managers’ Certificate of Competency (MMC)

    MMC is a certificate that is issued to an individual that has been found competent to can perform the duties of a mine manager at a South African mine. Amongst the requirements that a candidate need to meet upon applying to write the exams, a blasting certificate is one of them. Linton Consultancy offers tutorials for exam preparation on both types of MMC (underground coal and metalliferous mines), as well as trains the candidate for all the parts as per syllabus (i.e. Part A, Part B & Part C).
